ST. ANN MISSION HOSPITAL – IGOJI
St. Anne Mission Hospital, located in Igoji, Meru County, is a leading faith-based healthcare institution serving a significant and growing population in Eastern Kenya. The hospital functions as a critical referral center for a catchment population of approximately 1.2 million people, serving primarily the counties of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, and Embu, among others.

Established in 1959 by the Consolata Sisters as a health centre, the institution was entrusted to the Don Orione Sisters in 1979. Since February 9th 2009, it has been administered by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC). Sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Meru, St. Anne Mission Hospital is a Level IV faith-based healthcare facility committed to continuing the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by providing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare services to all, regardless of religious affiliation, social status, or economic background.
Situated on the eastern slopes of Mt. Kenya at an altitude of approximately 5,000 feet, the hospital has grown from a small health centre into a modern referral facility offering comprehensive services, including outpatient and inpatient care, maternity, surgery, emergency care, dialysis, High Dependency Unit (HDU), specialist clinics, diagnostic services, rehabilitation, community outreach, ambulance services, and an oxygen production plant.
Guided by compassion and excellence, the hospital serves predominantly rural communities while striving to ensure that quality healthcare remains accessible to all, especially the poor and the vulnerable, through the support of partners and benefactors.
ST. ANN DISPENSARY – KAGAENE
St. Ann Dispensary – Kagaene is another healthcare ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ – Kenyan Region. It complements the services offered by St. Anne Mission Hospital by providing accessible and affordable primary healthcare to the people of Kagaene and the surrounding communities.
The dispensary offers outpatient medical care, maternal and child health services, antenatal and postnatal care, immunization, laboratory and pharmacy services, HIV care and counselling, health education, and community outreach programmes.
Through close collaboration with St. Anne Mission Hospital, patients requiring specialized treatment are referred for further management, ensuring continuity of quality healthcare.
Together, St. Anne Mission Hospital and St. Ann Dispensary – Kagaene embody the PHJC mission of bringing Christ’s healing love to the community through compassionate, professional, and holistic healthcare services, especially for the poor and those most in need.
