The spirituality of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ is centered in Mary, the mother of Jesus, and the spirit and charism of Saint Katharina Kasper, our foundress.

In St. Luke’s Gospel account of the Annunciation and the Visitation, we are inspired by Mary, the first Handmaid of the Lord. Mary was completely open to the invitation of God and wanted only to fulfill His will. Like her, we say “yes” with the gift of our lives.

Saint Katharina Kasper inspires us to be poor in the sense of our own nothingness and complete dependence on God’s providence. Her life challenges us to listen attentively to the spirit, to serve joyfully and to live simply.

With Mary, share God’s love with the powerless.
